My family loves a good breakfast sandwich. There is so much umami, meatiness, saltiness, and deliciousness going on it is hard not to love them.
So, get yourself some good sausage and make a breakfast sandwich. They don’t take that long to make, and it’s easy enough to scale up the recipe to make multiple sandwiches at a time.
This recipe makes 4 breakfast sausages.
Ingredients
* 16 oz roll of sausage
* 4 eggs
* ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
* 4 English muffins or bagels
* Salt and pepper to taste
* 1 tbsp milk
To Make
To make the sausage, squeeze out of roll onto large frying pan over medium heat. Smash into a flat sheet with spatula. Cook on one side for 5 minutes without touching it and flip. You are trying to keep the patty intact as possible.
In a bowl, add eggs, salt and pepper, and milk and whisk with a fork for 30 seconds. Heat a nonstick pan on medium and add eggs. Let cook through flipping once if needed. Try to keep eggs as intact as possible. We aren’t necessarily going for a scramble, but you can if you want. An omelet style will be easier to work with and eat. Melt the cheese on top of the eggs.
Toast the muffin or bagel. Construct by slicing the sausage and eggs into roughly the same size as the muffin or bagel. Layer the sausage and the egg with cheese. Optionally serve with tomato and hot sauce. EAT!
