We are in the middle of a bunch of holidays and what better way to celebrate than with some great side dishes for all those large family meals. Brussels Sprouts are at the table a lot of the time. Done poorly Brussels Sprouts remind me of a pile of flatulence. They are limp, smell bad, and really just deserve to be flushed*. *Thrown out. I was leaning too hard into that analogy.
But! Brussels Sprouts done right are a piece de resistance. Firm with a bit of crunch, flavorful and rich. Done right, Brussels Sprouts might be the first side to be fully eaten. So, without further ado let’s make Brussels Sprouts!
Ingredients
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts
- 6 oz Bacon
- 1 tsp salt
To Cook
Preheat your oven to 400⁰. Prep the Brussels Sprouts by cutting off the stem, standing the sprout on its now flat side, and cutting in half from top to bottom. Place in a bowl. Toss with the salt and set aside. Chop your bacon into ½ inch strips. Heat a frying pan on medium for 2 minutes and then add the bacon. Cook the bacon until most of the bits have started to brown. Remove bacon from pan. Add Brussels sprouts to the pan and bacon grease. Cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes, then mix and cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes. Turn off heat. Add back in the bacon. Place in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and EAT!
