Last night I was feeling very lazy and didn’t really want to cook. But I also hate to order out. I feel like restaurant food has really exploded in prices the last couple years and it is hard to feed my family for under $50. That isn’t sustainable so I really push myself to cook as much as possible. Pasta Arrabiata is an economical way to feed the whole family and leave everyone satiated. But maybe tone down the pepper flakes or omit entirely if you have little ones.

Ingredients

  • 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 16 ounce pasta
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Basil
  • Parmesan

To Make

Cook pasta to instructions on the package. Heat a large skillet on medium heat for 2 minutes. Add the olive oil, pepper flakes and garlic. Mix and let simmer for 1-2 minutes, until aromatic. Add the tomatoes. Mix. Add the bay leaf. Simmer while the pasta cooks. When pasta is done, drain and mix directly into the sauce. Mix. Garnish with basil and Parmesan. EAT!
