County Fire crew returns from Rock Fire deployment

San Bernardino County Fire’s Type 3 Strike Team returned home after assisting with the Rock Fire in Inyo County. The team was mobilized Monday night and immediately began working 24-hour shifts. The team’s mission was to build and strengthen containment lines around the fire’s perimeter to prevent the fire from spreading.

The Type 3 Strike Team consisted of five specialized wild land fire engines and a battalion chief serving as the strike team leader. The engines are specifically designed for vegetation fires and carry large amounts of lightweight hose, allowing firefighters to quickly deploy hose lines across rugged terrain and protect the fire’s perimeter.

We are proud of our firefighters for their hard work, dedication and commitment to protecting communities across California.
