Week of the Young Child draws hundreds to museum for early childhood education

San Bernardino County Preschool Services hosted its first annual Week of the Young Child Family Resource Fair on Saturday, April 11, in collaboration with the San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands, bringing together families, community partners and staff for a day focused on early learning and family engagement.

The Week of the Young Child is a national celebration recognizing the importance of early childhood education and the critical role families and communities play in supporting children’s growth and development. The event reflects San Bernardino County’s ongoing commitment to ensuring all children have access to high-quality early learning opportunities and the resources needed to succeed.

Throughout the day, children and families explored the museum’s science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics lab and the many engaging exhibits while participating in hands-on, interactive activities designed to spark curiosity, creativity and a love of learning. These engaging experiences offered families meaningful opportunities to connect with their children and discover educational activities they can continue at home.

The family-friendly event welcomed more than 400 children and family members, as well as 300 museum attendees from across the county, to visit resource booths hosted by 10 community organizations offering services in health, education and family support.

By bringing together families and service providers in an engaging environment, the event supports Preschool Services’ mission to promote school readiness, strengthen family partnerships and connect families to comprehensive services. It also aligns with the county’s broader goals of expanding access to essential services, fostering community engagement and improving quality of life for children and families.
